Lamborghini and FFF Racing in pole position in Italy

At the Monza Autodrome, the first pole position of the year 2021 in GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup returned to the trio FFF Racing Mirko Bortolotti – Andrea Caldarelli – Marco Mapelli, at the end of an ultra-tight session with 24 cars in the same second.

From Q1, Mirko Bortolotti hit hard by setting the best time in 1'46"949, 165 thousandths ahead of Antonio Fuoco (Ferrari 488 GT3 n°71 – Iron Lynx), which confirms its great qualities, he who will be involved full-time in GT in 2021.

Raffaele Marciello places at this moment the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo n°88 – AKKA-ASP in 3rd place at 0″274, and precedes Dries Vanthoor (Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo n°32 – Team WRT) and Alex Fontana (Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo n°14 – Emil Frey Racing), best time in Silver Cup.

A hierarchy that evolves from Q2, since Callum Ilott, lined up in the Ferrari 488 GT3 n°71 – Iron Lynx, achieves the best time in 1'46″972, 154 thousandths ahead of Rik Breukers (Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo n°90 – Madpanda Motorsport), reference time in the Silver Cup.

The old pilot F2 thus takes the advantage in the aggregate of the two sessions for 105 thousandths over the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo n°63 – FFF Racing, when Team WRT with the Audi n°32 of van der Linde – Vanthoor – Weerts and the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo n°88 – AKKA-ASP of Marciello – Gounon – Juncadella remaining in ambush at 165 and 256 thousandths.

The fight finally turned in favor of FFF Racing and Lamborghini since, despite a puncture in his session, Andrea Caldarelli set a time of 1'46″729, 3rd time in a Q3 dominated by Jules Gounon, author of a new record lap in the series on this track in 1'46″442. But the mark is enough for the Sant'Agata Bolognese clan to sign pole for 7 thousandths in 1'47″006 in the cumulative classification.

Marciello – Gounon – Juncadella will start on the front line and precede the crews Ilott – Rigon – Fuoco and Weerts – van der Linde – Vanthoor, beaten by 95 and 165 thousandths.

In the Silver Cup, Ricardo Feller – Rolf Ineichen – Alex Fontana (Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo n°14 – Emil Frey Racing) take pole, while the Pro-Am is dominated by the McLaren 720S GT3 n°70 – Inception Racing by Millroy – Iribe.

The race will start at 15 p.m. in Monza and can be followed live on video, with commentary in French, on our website.
