There will be no races GT World Challenge Asia in Japan in 2020. The series promoted by SRO Motorsports has confirmed a new calendar taking into account the evolution of the situation with the coronavirus pandemic, and which no longer shows the Autopolis and Fuji meetings.
SRO had scheduled a championship opener on July 11-12 at Autopolis before a detour to Fuji later in the summer, but had to revise its plans. Sepang in Malaysia therefore wins an event in September, replacing the sprint event in Shanghai in China.
The Chinese circuit will, however, still be visited on October 17 and 18 for the Shanghai 888, a three-hour endurance race where points will be doubled. A second round in China will be on the program on October 31 and November 1, on a track yet to be confirmed.
The second visit to Sepang in Malaysia remains on December 5 and 6. SRO Motorsports is still aiming to hold a fifth race to complete the schedule.
GT World Challenge Asia 2020 Calendar:
September 12-13: Sepang – 3 one-hour races
October 17-18: Shanghai 888 – 3 hour race
October 31 – November 1: China (circuit to be determined) – 3 one-hour races
December 5-6: Sepang – 2 one-hour races
