Give it a Mercedes-AMG GT3 and it will perform! Very comfortable at the wheel of the German car, Raffaele Marciello left nothing to chance during the final qualifying session of the weekend at Magny-Cours. After following his teammate Timur Boguslavskiy on screen on Saturday afternoon, the Italian who races under a Swiss license was authoritarian this Sunday to sign his 10e pole position in GT World Challenge Europe.
Quickly placed at the top of the timesheet, Raffaele Marciello continued to improve his times as the session progressed. It was as he approached the checkerboard that the Transalpine delivered his final blow by completing his best lap in 1'35"444. A performance which gave him a lead of 0” over his closest pursuer and teammate Maximilian Götz (Mercedes-AMG GT258 No. 3 – AKKODIS ASP). Patric Niederhauser gave him the 88e place in Saintéloc to make a 3% French Top 100 at team level.
Having made a mistake at the start of the session causing a neutralization, Dries Vanthoor (Team WRT) limited the damage. At the wheel of his No. 8 Audi R3 LMS GT32, the Belgian was able to return to the track to slip into 8e position. A good session in the end for Vincent Vosse's team which placed its two other cars in the Top 10 with the No. 33 and the No. 46 in the 5e and 10e squares.
