For GT drivers, the 24 Hours of Spa represent a dream. It is no coincidence that the Ardennes classic has the reputation of the greatest GT race in the world. You only need to take a look at the entrants to realize this. There we find official drivers from all the biggest manufacturers in the world such as Audi, Porsche, BMW or even Mercedes. This world, Valentino Rossi is preparing to find out this weekend with its first participation in the 24 2022 Hours of Spa (July 30-31).
« I am very happy to participate in the most important race of the season and such a big event, he is already enjoying. I can't wait to take part in my first 24 Hours of Spa, it will certainly be an incredible experience. In addition, Spa is a fantastic circuit, long, fast and technical, I really enjoyed driving a GT3 there during testing. With 66 cars and all the best GT drivers in the world, it will be a great event, and with Fred and Nico we will give our all in what is also our home race as a team."
Accompanied by Frédéric Vervisch and Nico Müller in the No. 8 Audi R3 LMS GT46 Evo II of Team WRT, Valentino Rossi has reason to believe in a good result. His very experienced teammates in the GT world, the Italian and his partners could be one of the surprises of this 74e edition.
« We have big ambitions after our positive race at Paul-Ricard (last June), warns Nico Müller. I hope Vale, Fred and I, as a trio, can continue to progress and even put pressure on the big guys up front. Spa is always a big event, especially if you race for Team WRT, as the team races at home. It gives extra motivation and we all want to show that the team is absolutely great and deserves a great result. » Words that team boss Vincent Vosse will appreciate.
