Harrison Newey replaces Ed Jones at Team WRT

Small line-up change within the Team WRT for the 2020 campaign DTM. Ed jones, passed through the IndyCar Series after a title in Indy Lights in 2016, will not be able to hold his place in one of the three Audi RS 5 DTMs from Vincent Vosse's team.

The United Arab Emirates driver will thus be replaced at the last minute by Harrison Newey, son of the technical guru of Red Bull Racing Adrian Newey. The 21-year-old Briton, Asian champion Le Mans Series 2017-2018 and vice-champion the following year of the Asian series promoted by the ACO, will return to a sprint-type championship, after having reoriented his career since 2017 towardsEndurance.

“In DTM, for the final season which will take place in the format we have experienced so far, we aim to deliver on the promise we showed in our debut season last year, by increasing our entry to three cars , without deviating from our philosophy to promote young talents. » explains Vincent Vosse.

Newey will not fully discover the discipline, having carried out tests earlier in the year, already with Team WRT, but at that time, no concrete program seemed on track. In addition to Newey, the Belgian structure will field two Audi RS 5s for Fabio Scherer and Ferdinand Habsburg.
