Harvick adds Pocono to his roster

Kevin Harvick (Ford) was finally able to add the “Tricky Triangle” to his list of achievements by winning the Pocono Organics 325. The three-time winner of the season placed himself at the head of the championship after completing a comeback race where he benefited from 'a good strategy from his team. The resident of the Stewart-Haas Racing notably made a final late stop with 2 new tires to take the lead in the race with a good lead over its pursuers. He has now won in all the races on the calendar of the Nascar Cup Series, except Kentucky Speedway and Roval in Charlotte, North Carolina.

“We weren't where we needed to be at the start of the race and we lost several positions, explained the driver of the No. 4 Ford Mustang, but we returned to the front thanks to a superb strategy taking advantage of the “clean air”. It’s great to be able to add Pocono to my list. »

Despite his good lead in the last relay, Kevin Harvick saw Denny Hamlin (Toyota) back in his rearview mirror after the Joe Gibbs Racing driver took the lead over Aric Almirola (Ford).

“They informed me on the radio of the advance I had, added the winner. I saw the #11 come out of the pits and occupy second place. He took a little time back in traffic, but I knew I could be patient with the lead we had. Rodney Childers (the crew chief) had a great idea that took us all the way to Victory Lane. »

Denny Hamlin prevented Stewart-Haas Racing from scoring a double by placing himself in front of Aric Almirola, the winner of the second segment, despite a strong vibration in the final laps. Rookie Christopher Bell (Toyota) signed his best result in the Nascar Cup Series by taking 4th place ahead of Joe Gibbs drivers Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr.

Joey Logano (Ford) had a good start to the race by winning the first segment, but the Team Penske resident suffered a front left puncture 7 laps from the finish and only classified 36th.

The Nascar Cup Series will resume service this Sunday evening with the Pocono 350 where the starting grid will be made up of the results of the Pocono Organics 325. The Top 20 will be reconstituted in reverse order and it will be Ryan Preece (Chevrolet) who will start at the head of the race.
