Here's an announcement that should cause a lot of noise in the Nürburgring paddock this weekend. Through a press release this Thursday morning, Hyundai has confirmed that its customer teams will not start the German round due to technical inequalities concerning the electronic control unit.
« Hyundai Motorsport feels that the company and its customer teams do not receive the same treatment in the series (WTCR) as other competitors, making them feel unwelcome. ».
At the Nürburgring, Hyundai Motorsport was to be represented by BRC Hyundai N LUKOIL Squadra Corse (Norbert Michelisz and Gabriele Tarquini) and Engstler Hyundai N Liqui Moly Racing Team (Luca Engstler and Nicky Catsburg). There are therefore four cars which will be absent from the grid.
« Hyundai Motorsports remains committed to demonstrating the performance of its racing vehicles on the international stage, as well as in the representative series of the Hyundai N branch (the high-performance division of cars produced by Hyundai).”
