IGTC – Bentley will finally be present full time

Covid-19 had taken a big hit on the Intercontinental GT Challenge, more affected than most other championships signed by SRO. In addition to rounds whose holding was uncertain for a long time, several manufacturers had announced their withdrawal from the competition.

Bentley, winner of the Bathurst 12 Hours last February, was one of them. The British brand finally reversed its decision and will be there for the entire championship with official drivers Jules Gounon, Jordan Pepper and Maxime Soulet.

The trio will head to the United States on October 2 to compete in the 8 Hours of Indianapolis with the local K-Pax team, which runs the Bentleys in GT World Challenge America and Europe.

From October 22 to 26, three teams will represent the brand at the 24 Hours of Spa. K-Pax will be there, alongside the French CMR team and Team Parker, all already present in GT World Challenge Europe.

“The Intercontinental GT Challenge is the pinnacle of GT competition and, as a manufacturer, it’s where we belong. We are now able to fight for the title, but using our family of customer teams” comments Paul Williams, the boss of Bentley Motorsport.

“Having four teams capable of contributing to the battle for the title is really interesting. It would be a fantastic outcome for our customer program if we could win together. »

Finally, Bentley will be represented at the 9 Hours of Kyalami on December 12 by M-Sport. The team developed and raced the Bentley for several years before supporting customer teams for the 2020 season.

“I think everyone will be happy to see M-Sport enter two Continental GT3s at Kyalami. We couldn't have started this customer program without their help and sacrifice, so to see them back on the grid as a team at the end of the year is something we didn't expect and I'm sure that the fans will be excited. Hopefully they can finish the season the way they started it.”

Bentley achieved its first success in the Intercontinental GT Challenge at Bathurst.
