12 Bathurst 2024 Hours standings:

  • “Grello” strikes again! The nickname given to the Porsche Manthey-Racing's green and fluorescent yellow 911 GT3 R was the best at the 12 Bathurst 2024 Hours, the opening event of the Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC). However, nothing was certain for the German team.
  • In fact, the stewards had awarded him two pit stop penalties, for a non-regulatory pit-stop time (too short), then for having undergone this drive-through under safety car regime... which was also prohibited by the rule ! Despite falling beyond 10th place, the Porsche didn't give up and took advantage of the rain to get back into the match.
  • “It wasn't easy with the wet conditions, explained Matt Campbell. I was doing risk management on this last restart with 30 minutes to go, because there were still wet areas on the circuit, and the team kept me informed of the progress of the track and the gap. I win two races for my start to the season (after the 24 Hours of Daytona) and this is my second victory here after 2019 (with Earl Bamber Motorsport) It’s a great start to the year! »
  • There was no three in a row for Jules Gounon. The Frenchman had to settle for 2nd place alongside Luca Stolz and Kenny Habul, aboard the exact chassis of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 from SunEnergy1 Racing victorious at Bathurst in 2022 and 2023.
  • Pole sitter Sheldon van der Linde (BMW) retired following a collision with a Ginetta GT4 in the hilly area of the Australian circuit:

  • The hopes of Team WRT and BMW therefore rested on the other BMW M4 GT3, the one shared by Maxime Martin, Valentino Rossi and Raffaele Marciello. In the running for a podium, an attack from Maxime Martin from the outside caused him to lose two places with around ten minutes to go. The car finished 5th, behind Talbot-Haase-Linde (Audi) and Eriksson-Evans-Buus (Porsche).
