The 12 Bathurst 2025 Hours offered us a beautiful story of family and reunions. Although they had not raced together since 2018, Kelvin and Sheldon van der Linde shared the top step of the podium at the Australian event this Sunday morning, along with their teammate Augusto Farfus.

Reunited at BMW under the Team WRT banner, the South African brothers were able to savour their reunion as teammates with a magnificent victory, obtained thanks to another brilliant strategic move by Vincent Vosse's team. The Belgian team even scored a one-two as the n°32 beat the n°46 of Valentino Rossi, Raffaele Marciello and Charles Weerts.

Lots of emotions for the Van der Linde brothers

« It was a race with a lot of emotions for me., said Kelvin van der Linde, the eldest of the siblings. First race back with Team WRT, first race back with my brother, first race with Augusto, second race for BMW M Motorsport. It’s all very special. I don’t need to explain what this victory means to my brother and me. I’m sure our parents are proud at home. It’s also incredible for me to share this victory with Augusto, who I’ve admired since I was a child. He was one of my heroes. The last stint was very difficult, because I had to conserve fuel and Chaz Mostert was catching me. In the end, everything went perfectly. »

« I am very, very happy, Sheldon van der Linde was jubilant for his part. This win is down to the excellent execution of the Team WRT guys. I have never seen such perfect execution in terms of strategy before. We didn’t have the fastest car today, but we still did it! My two teammates didn’t make any mistakes. Sharing this win with my brother for a first race together since 2018 is of course very special. I am really impressed by how quickly he is up to his pace in only his second race with BMW M Motorsport. »

An ABT driver until last year, Kelvin van der Linde made his debut with BMW at the 24 Hours of Daytona. However, he did not share the wheel with his younger brother, since the latter was competing in the GTP category, while the older one was competing in GTD Pro in Florida.
