Jules Gounon gives Bentley Team M-Sport pole at Paul Ricard

La Q1 a été dominée par la Porsche 911 GT3 R n°54 – Dinamic Motorsport de Klaus Bachler en 1’53″241, 185 millièmes devant Raffaele Marciello (Mercedes-AMG GT3 n°88 – AKKA-ASP).

Next at this moment, Andrew Watson (Aston Martin Vantage n°59 – Garage 59), Maro Engel (Mercedes-AMG GT3 n°4 – Black Falcon) et Steven Kane (Bentley Continental GT3 n°107 – Team M-Sport). Mais Klaus Bachler sait d’ores et déjà à cet instant qu’il ne pourra s’élancer en pole, following the penalty imposed yesterday on the crew.

Q2 allows the Porsche – Dinamic Motorsport to maintain the best provisional average with the time achieved by Zaid Ashkanani, but Luca Stolz then places the Mercedes-AMG GT3 n°4 – Black Falcon in second position ahead of the Aston Martin Vantage n°59 – Garage 59.

Best time in Q2 thanks to Andrea Caldarelli's time, the #3 Lamborghini Huracan GT563 EVO – FFF Racing moved up to 4th place ahead of the #88 Mercedes – AKKA-ASP.

The decisive part of this qualification finally saw Jules Gounon set a best lap in 1'52"671, the track record, to offer pole position to Bentley Team M-Sport with the No. 3 Continental GT107 shared with Steven Kane and Jordan Pepper , with a best average of 1'53″338.

The Frenchman had narrowly failed to win last year when he was overtaken on the last lap by the winning Lexus, after being the victim of a bonnet problem, and thus offered the Bentley its first pole in Endurance Cup

The #3 Mercedes-AMG GT4 – Black Falcon of Engel – Stolz – Buurman will start on the front row in front of the #8 Audi R3 LMS GT55 EVO – Attempto Racing of Drudi – S. Schothorst – P. Schothorst, also leader in the Silver Cup.

The Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVo n°563 – FFF Racing of Mapelli – Caldarelli – Lind and the Porsche 911 GT3 R n°98 – ROWE Racing of Werner – Olsen – Campbell. The best Aston Martin Vantage ranks 6th with the n°62 – R-Motorsport of Martin – Parry – Vaxivière.

La Ferrari 488 GT3 n°72 – SMP Racing de Rigon – Molina – Aleshin, winner at Silverstone, ranks 16th. Ranked 13th in the session, the No. 3 Mercedes-AMG GT88 – AKKA-ASP of Marciello – Abril – Meadows will have to start from the pit lane following an engine change.

In Pro-Am, pole went to the Aston Martin Vantage n°97 – Oman Racing with TF Sport from Eastwood – Yoluc – Al-Harthy, while another Aston Martin Vantage, the n°188 – Garage 59 from West – Goodwin – Harris will start at the forefront in the Am Cup.
