Julien Briché achieves success in TCR Europe at Monza

Hello, here it is again! Outgoing TCR Europe runner-up, Julien Briché did not make the headlines at the start of the season at Paul-Ricard and Zolder. Fortunately, the Frenchman made up for it in a very good way in the Temple of Speed, in Monza.

On the long straights, the 1,6 liter engine of its Peugeot took his ease, both in testing and in races. On Saturday, the boss-pilot of JSB Compétition quickly took the lead and never left it.

" Finally ! This victory is so good for morale. We were on the pace from practice with the best time on Friday, and during qualifying I also felt very comfortable. At the start of the initial race, I lost a place but I was able to regain the advantage and from the moment I took the lead, the race went really well.

In race 2, I came up from fourth place on the grid, and we had a great fight with Oriola. I was a little faster but I was stuck behind. I fought to overtake him but there weren't enough laps left to do so. Two podiums, including one success, in one weekend, I’m delighted! »

In the championship, the best representative of the Lion brand remains Teddy Clairet, 8th, 71 points behind leader Daniel Lloyd. Julien Briché enters the top 10 for the first time this year (10th). The overall result suits Olivier Fuet, Customer Competition Manager at Peugeot Sport Circuit, perfectly.

“This Italian weekend confirmed the excellent level of competitiveness and reliability of the Peugeot 308 TCR, with its first success of the year, as well as its second and third podiums of the season. After a start to the campaign which saw him have some bad luck, I am obviously delighted to see Julien Briché back at the forefront.

With three races still to go, we will continue to work with JSB Compétition and Team Clairet Sport to continue on this path and try to secure several other podiums. Finally, we are particularly enthusiastic at the idea of being able to count on two additional representatives next year in TCR Denmark. »
