Kevin Harvick wins the resumption at Darlington

Kevin Harvick (Ford) won The Real Heroes 400 at Darlington Raceway (South Carolina). If the stands were empty due to the closed doors imposed by health measures linked to the coronavirus pandemic, the resident of the Stewart-Haas had all the necessary motivation to achieve his first success of the season and sign his 50th success in Nascar Cup Series, his 2nd on this 1,3 mile oval.

If the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LEs from Hendrick Motorsports were at the forefront at the start of the race, the cars bearing the Bow Tie fell back into line. Jimmie Johnson, one of the early leaders of the race, was notably able to win the first segment before ending up in the wall after contact with a latecomer, Chris Buescher (Ford).

Alex Bowman saved the day for Hendrick by finishing in second place without being able to follow the pace set by the biggest leader in the race. The Chevrolets performed well as Kurt Busch completed the podium ahead of Chase Elliott.

The Toyota were further behind with Denny Hamlin placing the first Camry in 5th ahead of teammate Martin Truex Jr.

Without the slightest practice session, the start of the race was launched with a certain tension. Ricky Stenhouse Jr (Chevrolet) was the first to pay the price by hitting the wall in the second turn, but the field was able to deal with the lack of preparation during the rest of the race.
