Klein/Boccolacci: return match for the title

The hunter has become the hunted. A year ago, Marvin Klein came back like a cannonball on Dorian Boccolacci and closed the gap before the finale of the 2021 season. In Portugal, the CLRT driver finally won his first PCCF title. This year, the champion sees his runner-up return just two rounds before the end of the 2022 financial year.

Before starting serious things in Valencia, neither Marvin Klein nor Dorian Boccolacci are really interested in the championship. “ I think about it sometimes but I don't fixate on it, recognizes the resident of CLRT. We just want to get pole, win races. Last year, we didn't calculate and we are adopting the same strategy today. »

A few cars later, the story is the same at Martinet by Alméras. “ I will really think about the championship in the last round if I can still play it, says Dorian Boccolacci. For now, we just have to win races. If we succeed, then we will finish ahead of Marvin and we will inevitably recover points. "N°19 above all wants to build his weekend well to be able to do " two very good laps in qualifying. » Especially since overtaking possibilities are reduced on the Ricardo Tormo track and the starting position is essential to do well in the race.

Engagés tous les deux en Porsche Supercup, ils ont connu des fortunes diverses en fin de saison. Dorian Boccolacci a eu du mal à jouer les premiers rôles mais le Cannois voit d’un bon œil le retour de la PCCF. « Changing championships allows you to do a mental reset. The last two races in Carrera Cup France went well (two victories at Zandvoort) so I'm happy to come back. I leave with a winning mindset like every time. »

Poleman and victorious at Zandvoort, then poleman again at Monza in the Supercup, Marvin Klein seems to have a psychological advantage over his opponent but does not pay attention to it. “ He finished his season, I finished mine, I'm focused only on myself. My end of the Supercup was very good and it felt good mentally. I want to work with the team to play at the top of the rankings. »

During the first day of free practice, Marvin Klein set the two best times. Dorian Boccolacci was further back and ranked in the top-7. The two men will have a real first opportunity to judge each other this Saturday, during the qualifications scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
