Kyle Busch above the rest at Pocono

Kyle Busch (Toyota) scored his 6th victory of the season at Pocono (Pennsylania), matching the performance of Kevin Harvick (Ford). The Joe Gibbs Racing resident remained at the forefront in the last part of the event and resisted the pressure of his teammate Daniel Suarez during the last restart to sign his second success on the “Tricky Triangle” after that of last year and obtain the 49th victory of his career in Nascar Cup Series

If the first two segments of the Gander Outdoors 400 were fluid, the final laps were more lively. The event was notably interrupted by a red flag 6 loops from the checkered flag following the accident of Darrell Wallace Jr (Chevrolet). The Richard Petty Motorsports driver lost his brakes and hit the outside wall at around 240 mph. “Bubba” fortunately escaped the crash unscathed.

Alex Bowman lifted the first Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 into the top three while the Top 5 was completed by Kevin Harvick and Erik Jones. The 2014 champion, winner of the second segment, had to make a comeback from the back of the peloton during the last part of the race after contact in the pits with his teammate Aric Almirola.
