The ETCR will become the FIA ​​eTouring Car World Cup from 2022

Although it has not yet started, the Pure ETCR is already securing a great future since it has obtained World Cup status, starting next year. This means that the competition will retain its name in 2021 before becoming the FIA ​​eTouring Car World Cup in 2022.

« Following a competitive tender, a long-term agreement has been signed between the FIA ​​and Eurosport Events, with a wide-ranging commitment to promote the all-new FIA eTouring Car World Cup at the top of the international competition ", Reads the statement.

This future status will allow it to “ strengthen its position as a leading international electric touring car series, and will award world titles to drivers and manufacturers ».

With the FIA ​​eTouring Car World Cup, Eurosport Events, the promoter, and the FIA ​​aim to deliver “ a global platform for manufacturers » so that they can enter the racing versions of their latest production electric vehicles.
