The All-Star Race moves to Bristol

The organizers of the Nascar Cup Series have announced that the All-Star Race will exceptionally be held on July 15 at Bristol Motor Speedway (Tennessee). This non-championship event usually takes place each season at Charlotte Motor Speedway (North Carolina).

“The Nascar All-Star Race is an event renowned for creating history and we will ensure that this legend continues by hosting the event in Bristol, commented Speedway Motorsports CEO Marcus Smith. While Charlotte is recognized as the birthplace of the All-Star Race, current data regarding the pandemic in North Carolina makes Bristol a better option for fan access. »

Nascar intends to open its stands with a limited number of places for the public. Since the first edition of the All-Star Race held in 1985, all races have been contested on the 1,5 mile oval with the exception of the 1986 season when the event took place on the Atlanta Motor Speedway (Georgia). This year's edition will be very different since the Bristol oval is a 0,5 mile short track while the Charlotte track is a classic 1,5 mile oval.
