Jaguar i-Pace eTrophy shut down after two seasons

A little turn, or rather two, and then it's gone. This is the fate of the Jaguar i-Pace eTrophy, which only completed two seasons before being removed from the motorsport landscape.

Contested alongside the ePrix of Formula E between 2018 and 2020, the one-make cup allowed electric SUVs to compete on city circuits. Problem, the winding routes, the characteristics specific to an imposing vehicle (unwieldy and dynamic) as well as the lack of entrants (a dozen at most) proved too obvious for the English manufacturer to continue this program.

“The Jaguar i-Pace eTrophy has achieved many of the goals we set for ourselves, prefers to explain James Barclay, the Director of the championship. However, in these unprecedented times linked to the Covid-19 crisis, we have adjusted our strategy and made the decision to stop the championship after two successful seasons. »

In 2019, the Brazilian Sérgio Jimenez won ahead of his compatriot Caca Bueno. The 2020 campaign, stopped after two trips, had already highlighted the domination of the title holder (two victories).
