The Peugeot 308 Racing Cup relaunches in the Ultimate Cup Series in 2021

Not disputed this year faced with the situation of confinement and restrictions linked to the coronavirus pandemic, la Peugeot 308 Racing Cup will be back in 2021.

The Lion one-make series will, however, leave the fold of the French FFSA Circuit Championship, where it has long served as a support race for the French Championship. FFSAGT, to evolve within the framework of Ultimate Cup Series.

“Peugeot Sport wanted to allow the 308 Racing Cup drivers and teams to continue the adventure in optimal organizational and budgetary conditions., comments the French brand.

The GT Sprint category, dedicated to GT Supertourisme cars, in the Ultimate Cup Series proved to be the most relevant framework. »

A specific classification integrated into the GT Sprint will thus be put in place with an as yet undetermined allocation which will be proposed by Peugeot.

“We were keen to guide our 308 Racing Cup customers towards new challenges which meet all the conditions in terms of running time, budget, organization and prestigious circuits, indicates François Wales, boss of Peugeot Sport.

The Ultimate Cup Series offers this very good level framework. During our discussions with UCS, we discovered a state of mind and a vision that we share and I have no doubt that our clients will flourish in this formula. We will follow them in this transition and wanted to salute their loyalty by maintaining an endowment at the end of the season. »

Good news for a formula which, whether with the RCZ Racing Cup or its descendant 308, has been able to reveal drivers like Mathieu Jaminet, Aurélien Comte or even the siblings Teddy and Jimmy Clairet.

Tourism will, however, be part of the French Circuit Championship in 2021, since SRO Motorsports will launch its TC categories in a French Tourism Championship on the sidelines of the FFSA GT.
