The 2020 308 Racing Cup season is canceled

The repercussions linked to the Covid-19 pandemic take a new turn this Wednesday, April 22, with the first cancellation of a motor competition in France. This is the 308 Racing Cup championship, the six rounds of which planned for 2020 have been definitively removed from the French calendar.

Mostly contested on the sidelines of the French Championship FFSAGT since 2017, the 308 Racing Cup was to go to Nogaro this year for the Easter Cups postponed to the end of August, Spa-Francorchamps, Lédenon, Magny-Cours, Paul-Ricard and Barcelona.

This cancellation is explained by the Director of Peugeot Sport, François Wales, in a letter addressed to the participants of the Peugeot Sport Meetings. “Things are changing every day and it is therefore not easy to offer you reliable and definitive solutions. All events must be canceled or postponed until – at least – mid-July.

However, this deadline could change again. Many major events such as 24 Hours of Le Mans, Roland Garros or the Tour de France are postponed to September in a constantly evolving context.

We must therefore face this unclear situation and make decisions and firm measures so that you too can make arrangements. We study economic and sporting issues on a daily basis in a context in which – for us – the priority remains everyone’s health.

We have therefore made the decision to cancel the entire championship (6 events) of the 308 Racing Cup season 2020.”

However, the teams scheduled to take part in the championship could well meet at two rounds of the Peugeot Sport Meetings, in Dijon (September 19-20) and Nogaro (October 31-November 1) at the start of the school year. “We are looking for simple and inexpensive solutions to allow you – teams and drivers – to keep your cars running.

In particular, we study the possibility of joining the 308 Racing Cup field as part of 2 rounds of the Peugeot Sport Meetings : Dijon and Nogaro. We must be able to offer you attractive conditions to participate in these 2 events. We will come back to you in the coming weeks with more concrete information. »
