Actor Nicholas Hoult made his debut in the Ferrari Challenge North America

Like other film stars before him, Nicholas Hoult is venturing into motorsport. The 36-year-old Briton made his debut in Classic Ferrari for sale Challenge North America from March 11th to 15th at the Thermal Club circuit, known for having hosted two events of theIndyCar in 2024 and 2025, as he revealed on his Instagram account.

This participation didn't come out of nowhere. Hoult, known for his role as Hank McCoy (Beast) in the X-Men saga, his portrayal of J.R.R. Tolkien in the eponymous film, and more recently, his incarnation of Lex Luthor in the Superman film released in 2025, is a motorsport enthusiast. The Hollywood actor has been training with Ferrari for several years and even graduated from the Prancing Horse brand's Corso Pilota racing school.

Before participating in the Ferrari Challenge, he had already distinguished himself in July 2024 on the legendary Watkins Glen circuit. At the wheel of the Maranello firm's 296, Hoult won the Club Challenge. It was the first time I'd ever been on a podium and sprayed myself with champagne, but I did it very badly. he confessed a few months later. I saw the photo and thought I hadn't positioned my thumb correctly on the neck of the bottle. It was rather a futile attempt at a champagne celebration, but I can still get on other podiums and improve my technique. »

While Nicholas Hoult may seem no stranger to speed, given his role in the 2015 film Mad Max: Fury Road, which features spectacular chase sequences, the experience of driving a race car remains quite different from that of film sets. The main difference is that most of the time, a stuntman did the work for you while you pretended and focused on your lines. When I'm driving a Ferrari, there's nowhere to hide because I'm the one in control. If things go wrong, it's my fault. " he explains, smiling.
