Lamborghini unveils its Huracán ST Evo

It was its stronghold of Sant'Agata Bolognese, in Italy, that Lamborghini chose to lift the veil last night on its latest weapon, the Huracán Super Trofeo Evo. Or rather, as its name suggests, we should talk about an evolution of the old version, which has been around for three years now. Stefano Domenicali and Giorgio Sanna, respectively president of Automobili Lamborghini and head of its competition branch Squadra Corse, were sent for the occasion.

Under the hood, the beauty remains strictly identical to the model seen in 2017 and therefore retains its 10-liter V5,2 which develops 620 hp. It was aerodynamics that was the center of attention for the Centro Stile engineers of the bull brand and its partner Dallara. The idea was to keep the same level of downforce, but to increase the overall level of efficiency by reducing drag while improving stability in fast corners, hence the appearance of a ridge on the hood engine. The new air intake on the roof – which allows you to benefit from better torque at high speed – helps to give the car an even more aggressive side than in the past. Safety has, of course, been increased, with the appearance of a roof hatch intended to facilitate the driver's extraction, obligatory in GTE and GT3.

According to Giorgio Sanna, these improvements would have allowed the Huracán Super Trofeo to lower its lap record on the Monza circuit by 1”5. At €50 on paper, this new aerodynamic kit will be offered at a more reasonable price to teams already involved in one of the four existing series, even if the next Super Trofeo Middle East exercise, which begins in February 000 and 2 in Abu Dhabi, will still compete with the previous version. The purchase of a new car was set at €3. As a reminder, Lamborghini sold more than 235 copies of the previous model.

The competitive debut of Evo is planned for spring 2018, in the European, Asian and North American championships.
