The Lamera Cup championship officially began with the first qualifying session this Saturday. After a rainy start to the weekend, it was under mixed conditions that the drivers were able to set their times.

Free practice started in the rain this morning, with the teams testing their cars for the first time on the track. Yesterday, only a few teams drove in the storms, to the great dismay of the drivers new to the championship.

The sun came out around eleven in the morning. All the drivers rushed to the track to take advantage of the conditions and familiarize themselves with the circuit before qualifying.

The Lamera Cup qualifying format is quite unique: three 9-minute sessions with three different drivers each time. It is the accumulation of the three times which determines their position on the starting grid.

For the 4-hour race this Saturday, Team Lamera #62 will start in pole position, with Continental #80 in second place as well as Team Auto Leclerc #73 in third. These three teams are Elite class crews, the best in the championship.

Team 62 will therefore provisionally take first place in the Lamera Cup championship at the end of qualification, with a strong team: Thomas Merafina, Mattéo Merafina and Pierre Couasnon will be at the start. We will also salute the performance of the Alma Racing #32 crew, which is placed on the third row of the grid with a Gentleman class crew (amateur drivers).

Rain is in the forecast for this afternoon of racing at Magny-Cours. Enough to challenge the mind and body to reach the finish line in all categories. Good luck to everyone !
