Lasse Soerensen wins race 1 at Zolder

Lasse Soerensen played a balancing act this Saturday in Zolder to secure victory at the end of the first race in the EuroNascar Pro category in Nascar Whelen Euro Series.

The driver of the No. 66 Chevrolet Camaro – DF1 Racing dominated from start to finish in an event that began under safety car conditions due to weather and track conditions. Once released, Soerensen just had to control the pressure from Stienes Longin (Chevrolet Camaro n°11 – PK Carsport), the latter however making a mistake on the 7th lap and letting the leader fly away.

It was ultimately Marc Goossens (No. 98 Ford Mustang – CAAL Racing) who finished behind the reigning EuroNascar 2 champion, Alon Day completing the podium with the No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro – PK Carsport.

Jacques Villeneuve (Feed Vict Racing) finished the event in 4th place ahead of Gianmarco Ercoli (Chevrolet Camaro n°54 – CAAL Racing). Championship leader, Loris Hezemans (#50 Ford Mustang – Hendrik Motorsports) was penalized during the race for overtaking before the start/finish line after the safety car, and only finished 19th.
