Biofuel is coming to tourism

While all disciplines are working to be more and more “green”, the WTCR seems to have taken a big step forward in this race towards ecology with the arrival of renewable energies in the discipline.

The WTCR confirmed this Friday that all teams will use sustainable biofuel for their cars. This will be supplied by the German company P1 Racing Fuels, whose project was entrusted by the directors of the touring championship.

From now on, the cars' tanks will be filled with 85% traditional racing fuel and 15% with sustainable biofuel supplied by P1 Racing Fuels

« The appointment of P1 Racing Fuels as the official fuel supplier of the WTCR is an important first step towards the use of 100% renewable fuel in the series as outlined on our roadmap we have set out for the introduction of biofuel ", says Alan Gow, chairman of the FIA Touring Car Commission.

This new feature is part of the WTCR's approach to reducing its carbon footprint in the years to come. The agreement with P1 Racing Fuels extends over two years with the aim of fully implementing sustainable biofuel from the 2022 season.
