Motorsport finally resumes

The coronavirus epidemic forced all motor racing to stop at the start of the year. There Nascar was one of the last disciplines to go into hibernation after the event at Phoenix Raceway (Arizona) on March 8.

70 days later, while the pandemic still requires strict health measures to be respected, Nascar will get back on track by competing in the first race in Darlington (South Carolina) this Sunday, May 17, the start of a program much larger to keep its commitment to compete in the 36 races on the calendar.

Officials will impose strict measures including closed-door events, but the main thing for the organizers is to offer a spectacle on television which is an important source of income for the championship. Beyond the races, the resumption of Nascar will above all be closely monitored to observe whether the organization of events of this scale can be carried out safely.
