Street-Art Racing unveils its livery before the International GT Open

It's hard not to pay attention to it! And yet, for its first year in GT3 in the International GT Open, the Street-Art Racing team risks making some people jealous given the look of their new car. Stamped with the number 007, theAston Martin Vantage by Albert Bloem and Damien Hellebuyck, the leaders of the team, has been somewhat revisited by the Belgian artist Christophe de Fierlant. An unusual approach to say the least but which bears the emblem of the team: art in the service of motorsport.

“We are passionate about both motorsport and art, recalls Albert Bloem, the director of the Belgian team. When I was a driver myself, I got into the habit of asking an artist to decorate my car. This is where the name of our team comes from: Street in reference to cars that we can see in the streets and Art for their artistic dress. With our move to GT3, which is an important step for Street-Art Racing, we have revived this tradition and given free rein to the talent of Christophe de Fierlant. »

The chassis of the Aston Martin has therefore been given a very colorful dress. “Like my usual works, I wanted something very luminous, explains the artist in charge of the decoration. With Albert [Bloom] and Damien Hellebuyck [Team Manager], we agreed on one thing: no question of this car blending in anonymously with the crowd! »

Above all, it is important to remember that this car was created by a motorsport enthusiast above all. A man who has been in this environment for many years. A family affair in short:

“My uncle, Hughes de Fierlant, won the 24 Hours of Spa in 1975 and he participated seven times in the 24 Hours of Le Mans » adds Christophe de Fierlant. So I have passion in my blood. I myself drove in the VW Fun Cup, in the Belgian Touring Car Series, in Nascar Euro Series, at the 24 Hours of Spa in 2013... To be honest, I cherish the dream of participating in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in a car that I would have decorated myself. It would be, I think, a great first to have an artist who is also a driver of 'his' Art Car! »

The Belgian artist had already created an Art Car before: the VW Fun Cup, which took part in the prologue to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. But for this company, he took the time to create a work taking into account the history of the brand, the model, etc…

“I knew pretty quickly that I wanted an explosion of color, he explains […] The explosion of colors is the explosion of my artistic career, but it is also the explosion of Street-Art Racing, which reaches a new level with this GT3. Usually there is always a lot of writing in my works and, as I am both a painter and a poet, these are associated with a poem... In this case, Jetcraft gave me permission to reinterpret their logo to integrate it on the car. »
