The TCR arrives in the USA

An agreement was reached between the authorities of TCR and those of theIMSA Continental Tire Sportscar challenge for the creation of a new TCR championship from the 2017 season. This new championship will coexist with the Grand Sport and the Street Tuner within the IMSA structure.

Through its partnership with WSC which holds the rights to the TCR, IMSA will use TCR approved cars, namely production cars with a 2.0L turbo engine and a maximum power of 350 hp. The manufacturers who will take part in this championship will already have a resonance in the United States.

« The TCR quickly became the global standard for passenger car platforms, declares Marcello Lotti, the boss of the WSC. Our goal was to create a new base for the tourism championships.

The TCR will make its debut in the Continental Tire Challenge at the beginning of January at Daytona as a curtain-raiser to the 24 Hours.
