WTCC takes over Brands Hatch

Fifteen days after the Porto round where the WTCC championship celebrated its hundredth race, the players return to the circuits for the Brands Hatch meeting. Leader of the general classification, Yvan Muller, knows the English track well. Last year, on the road to his first WTCC world title, he took the lead from Gabriele Tarquini at the end of the weekend.

This season, he arrives at the South East London circuit already in the lead. Gabriele Tarquini is his closest competitor but behind Augusto Farfus (BMW) does not intend to let the two Seat drivers escape. With 15 points behind Muller, Farfus wants to get closer to the lead this weekend. “ I need to achieve a good result on this big circuit. It will be very important to score new points. I would then be able to keep the pressure on the drivers in front of me in the Drivers standings. " said Farfus.

The Seat and BMW drivers will also be on an equal footing with regard to ballast. The two brands will thus carry an additional 40 kg, the maximum possible weight. The Chevrolet Cruze will be penalized by only 10 kg. Finally the new Lada Priora which was introduced in Porto in the hands of James Thompson will be lightened by 20 kg.
