WTCC prefers Argentina to Brazil

The event in Curitiba, Brazil, scheduled for the weekend of July 28 will ultimately not take place. For “logistical” reasons, the organizers preferred to cancel the event and replace it with a round held at Termas de Rio Hondo, in Argentina. This is the first time that the WTCC will visit this country, on a route inaugurated in 2008 and extended last year to a total length of 4,4 km. The officials also made it clear that the Brazilian event should be back next year.

“We decided to move from Brazil to Argentina for logistical reasons”, explained Marcello Lotti, general manager of the WTCC, on the official website of the discipline. “However, we maintain close relations with the Brazilian authorities and we plan to include both South American events on our calendar for the 2014 season. We are proud to send the WTCC to Argentina for the first time. We had this project in mind for three years. »

The Termas de Rio Hondo event will be contested on August 3 and 4 between the Porto and Sonoma rounds.
