Sports competitions banned until the end of July in Belgium

In a new update on the situation in the country, the Belgian government confirmed a ban on sports competitions until July 31. Therefore putting into doubt the holding of the opening of the FFSA GT in Spa.

Sports competitions banned until the end of July in Belgium

Via the voice of Sophie Wilmès, Belgian Prime Minister, our neighbors took stock of the deconfinement situation in the country this Wednesday afternoon.

Concerning sporting activity, all competition will be prohibited until July 31 inclusive, de facto putting an end to the Belgian football championship for example.

For motorsport, the decision casts doubt on the holding of the opening of the French Championship FFSAGT, scheduled for July 17 to 19 on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. The Ardennes route has also taken note of the government's announcements.

“No race can therefore be held on the Spa-Francorchamps Circuit until this date, indicates those responsible for the complex in a press release. The Spa-Francorchamps Circuit remains attentive to the next communication from the National Safety Council concerning its other activities (sporting events) on the track which will be studied as part of phase 2 scheduled for May 18 but also for its sporting competitions after the 31st. July. »

Belgium had already announced the ban on events with the public until August 31, a choice having forced SRO Motorsports to postpone the 24 Hours of Spa next October.
