Longin and Day winners in Croatia

For Alon Day, this victory at the exotic Automotodrom Grobnik in Croatia will remain as a highlight of his career in Nascar Whelen Euro Series. Winner of a second confrontation last weekend in EuroNascar Pro, after starting from pole and dominating the entire race, the Israeli scored a 22nd success in the discipline ahead of Loris Hezemans and Lasse Soerensen.

A mark that allows him to return to equality with Nascar legend Whelen Ander Vilariño. “It’s an incredible feeling, specifies the Sunday hero. The PK Carsport team worked extensively on the No. 24 Chevrolet.

Unfortunately qualifying didn't go well yesterday, but we made the best of the situation. I'm tied with Ander for the all-time record and that's something that makes me really happy. »

Imperial on Sunday, Alon Day had a much more difficult Saturday. Ninth in qualifying, the PK Carsport driver could not do better than fifth place at the finish, in a round dominated by Stienes Longin.

The driver of the No. 11 Chevrolet Camaro – ProJob managed to take the advantage at the start over pole sitter Giorgio Maggi, before closing all the necessary doors to secure the second victory of his career.

“I won the first time in EuroNascar PRO last year in Zolder and when you know how to win, it becomes easier, underlines the winner. Grobnik is a fast and fun track and it's nice to be in Croatia. It was a good battle with Giorgio but I know it's difficult to overtake here. »

The podium in this first race had already been completed by Lasse Soerensen. In the championship standings, Day now has 214 units, 15 more than his pursuer Soerensen before the next meeting in Valencia in Spain, from December 3 to 6.
