Longin winner of the final in Zolder, Hezemans champion

The 2019 season finale of the Nascar Whelen Euro Series took place this Sunday October 6 near Zolder (Belgium). As a symbol, the flat country was in the spotlight during the last Elite 1 race, with victory for the Belgian Stienes Longin.

The latter, champion in the Elite 2 category in 2016, had curiously never received a winner's trophy since his move to the next level! A mistake repaired after taking the advantage over the former title holder Alon Day and the pole sitter Jacques Villeneuve.

The Quebecer was able to record a new podium, but that was without counting on a downpour at the end of the event. The world champion of Formula 1 1997 went off the track on the very last lap and finished seventh.

The happiest man in the paddock on this rainy Sunday was undoubtedly Loris Hezemans. The 22-year-old Dutchman, son of Toine Hezemans and little brother of Mike Hezemans, secured the title just by taking part in race 2.

He had a comfortable lead over his direct pursuer Nicolo Rocca after the first race of the weekend. Fourth for his apprenticeship season in 2018, Loris Hezemans allows the Hendriks Motorsport team to finish at the top of the final ranking.
