Maro Engel places Mercedes and Black Falcon on pole for the 24 Hours of Spa

It’s a bit “banzaï” on the Super Pole of the 24 Hours of Spa! At the helm of a Mercedes-AMG GT3 n°4 – Mercedes-AMG Team Black Falcon bardée de sa livrée manga, Maro Engel a arraché la pole position ce vendredi soir d’un souffle face à Laurens Vanthoor et Porsche.

If Davide Rigon (Ferrari 488 GT3 n°72 – SMP Racing) had hit hard in 2'18″806, taking back control of the session against Laurens Vanthoor (Porsche 911 GT3 R n°117 – Team75 Bernhard), the local hero responded straight away in 2’18″605.

But Maro Engel's laps were enough to dislodge Vanthoor from first place, the Mercedes driver completing the benchmark time in 2'18"588, or 17 thousandths better than the #117 Porsche.

Davide Rigon fails by two tenths, the Ferrari – SMP Racing of the leaders of the classification Endurance Cup starting tomorrow alongside the Porsche 911 GT3 R n°998 – ROWE Racing of Tandy – Makowiecki – Pilet.

Daniel Serra places the No. 488 Ferrari 3 GT227 – HubAuto Corsa in the top 5 at 0″266, ahead of the No. 8 and No. 3 – Audi Sport Team WRT Audi R2 LMS GT1 Evo of Dries Vanthoor and Nico Müller, and the Attempto Racing car of Mattia Drudi. Maxi Buhk (Mercedes n°999 – Mercedes-AMG Team GruppeM) and Mathieu Jaminet (Porsche 911 GT3 R n°98 – ROWE Racing) complete the top 10.

The 24 Hours of Spa will begin tomorrow at 16:30 p.m. and can be followed live on video and in full with commentary in French on our website.
