Martin watches the youth

The veteran is not dead and intends to prove it. Mark Martin, born in 1959, beat the peloton Nascar and his army of highly motivated young guns. Already a winner in Phoenix this season, Mark Martin ideally places himself in the top 12 for the playoffs. Even if the season is still long, collecting points could prove decisive when bringing the first twelve drivers into the playoffs.

Starting from twelfth place, the veteran made a superb comeback, just like Jimmie Johnson, his runner-up at the finish, who started in 42nd position. Mark Martin took control with 47 laps to go and never let go of the lead. The driver took advantage of the refueling game to move into first position, benefiting from the stoppage of some of his competitors under yellow flag. Chevrolets are still a hit, far ahead of Dodge, Ford and Toyota since the “Chevy” occupied the first seven places at the finish.

Having started the race in the lead, Matt Kenseth did not take advantage of his pole and finished on the edge of the Top 10 while Greg Biffle, for a long time at the front, only ranked eighth. In the general classification, Jeff Gordon keeps the lead and Mark Martin benefits from the 190 points from his victory to return to the Top 12.
