The Trident is back in competition. After the announcement of the arrival of the Italian brand in Formula E for the 2023 season, Maserati will also make its return to Grand Touring. The Stellantis group firm has announced its participation in the GT2 European Series next year, with its brand new weapon, the MC20 GT2.

Maserati will offer the MC20 GT2 to its customers and teams. The car is based on the road version of the MC20, produced since 2020. The return of Maserati to the circuit and to GT competition links the new era of the brand to the numerous victories obtained in the FIA GT championships from 2004 to 2010. The Trident had notably won the 24 Hours of Spa three times with the MC12 in 2005, 2006 and 2008.

" A new start " for Maserati

Davide Grasso, CEO of Maserati, welcomed the return of the Bologna brand to GT competition. “We are driven by our passion, both on the road and on the track. We have a real international history in motorsport, so we are extremely proud to make our return with the extraordinary MC20. Motor racing has always been Maserati's natural habitat. Today, whether through the European GT2 championship or the Formula E, our brand takes a new start, from its roots and to build the future. »

Jean-Marc Finot, vice-president of Stellantis Motorsport, describes this return as a new milestone for Maserati. “With the MC20 GT2, Maserati Corse forms the link between the Formula E factory program and our road cars. This new step enriches Maserati's heritage and legitimacy in motorsport. The MC20 is a fantastic road-legal car. We are happy that our customers, driven by passion, enjoy getting behind the wheel. »
