McLaren ready to launch its 720S GT3

The GT3 field will welcome a new model next year with the McLaren 720S GT3. This racing car, the first GT developed by McLaren Automotive's customer racing department, is based on the foundations of the commercially available supercar of the same name while retaining its race-modified M840T twin-turbo 8l V4.

Woking engineers worked on the engine's efficiency and reliability. The future British mount has already covered more than 30km in tests, notably over 000-hour and 24-hour sessions. A work carried out in partnership with Pirelli which supplies most GT events including the Blancpain GT Series.

The Monocage II carbon fiber chassis takes the lines of the original model even if it has been revised in CFD in order to optimize aero. The transmission is based on a 6-speed sequential gearbox. The braking system has also been revised compared to the supercar, as has the traction control and ABS.

The comfort of the driver will be taken care of since the adjustments of the pedals will be added to those of the steering wheel, a rear camera ensuring optimal visibility. Despite its British roots, all McLaren 720S GT3s will be designed with the steering wheel to the left of the dashboard.

Testing will continue in Europe, the USA and the Middle East. The McLaren 720S GT3 will retail for £440 (€000).
