While waiting for the end of the activity cycle of its Mercedes-AMG GT3 planned for the end of the 2025 season, the German manufacturer has been declining it as much as possible in recent years. But this time, he has raised the bar very high by presenting a very limited and very powerful edition of his GT3, the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport.

It is in the setting of Pebble Beach in California, while the Monterey Car Week takes place a few kilometers away on the Laguna Seca circuit, that L'Étoile lifted the veil on this model celebrating the 130 years of the brand . To put it simply, Mercedes took its AMG GT3 and boosted it in its Affalterbach workshops, giving birth to a supercharged beast.

Without the constraints of the GT3 regulations and the BoP, this Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport features its 8-liter V6,3 developing no less than 680 hp. This ultimate atmospheric version of the AMG block allows the vehicle to reach a top speed of 315 km/h. Power is transmitted through a six-speed sequential racing gearbox, which have otherwise been modified.

In addition, the German firm's engineers have revised the car's aerodynamics. Thus, the support has been increased by 15% compared to the base model thanks to the redesign of the front splitter and the vents. Note that the rear wing has been widened and has the DRS system, inspired by the Formula 1 and former Class Ones of DTM. Without forgetting the few pieces of equipment it carries such as the five-point harness, safety nets, the steel roll bar, a fire extinguisher, a safety tank or even an emergency hatch. The Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport also features “highly effective” racing ABS and a multi-adjustable traction control system.

Two years of development were necessary for this Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport to see the light of day. Last February, the official pilot Jules Gounon was able to see what she had in her stomach. On the sidelines of the Bathurst 12 Hours, the Habs then broke the record for the fastest lap at the wheel of a GT on this track. 1'56"6054 on the line shattering the previous mark of 1'59"2910 held by Christopher Mies in 2018 on an Audi R8 LMS "extreme" version.

In terms of production, Mercedes plans only 13 examples of its racing car inspired by the 300 SL W 194 from 1952. A few details connect them such as the livery but also the period tartan used on the heiress's seats. To acquire one, you will have to pay 1 euros, excluding taxes. All without being able to hit the road with it because this Edition 030Y Motorsport is not approved for.
