Mercedes-AMG reorganizes its GT department

New at Mercedes-AMG with a view to the future of all the brand's GT programs. The German manufacturer has announced that it is taking “revolutionary measures” in order to carry out a strategic reorganization of the motorsport branch. This decision was driven by the desire to respond to future requirements and projects in the best possible way.

This is how Affalterbach Racing GmbH was born, the department that will now be responsible for its customer racing activities as well as the development of the new Mercedes-AMG GT3.

Additionally, Mercedes-AMG GmbH plans to acquire part of its long-standing partner HWA AG. The two companies have also signed a letter of intent to this effect, we learn. By carrying out this internal restructuring, the German firm “reaffirms its commitment to GT”.

The first project carried out by the Affalterbach Racing GmbH subsidiary is none other than that of the new AMG GT3. This “Made in Afflaterbach” model is based on a derivative of the Mercedes-AMG GT family.

In order to use our in-house expertise even more effectively, we have strategically strengthened the motorsport division with the new business unit at the Affalterbach location and set important milestones for the future. With Affalterbach Racing GmbH, we will now be able to act even more skillfully and quickly ».
