Monteiro wants to treat Porto

In difficulty in Brno against the power of the BMW 320si, the Seat Leon TDIs still did well, taking advantage of the fratricidal battles of the German cars. Tiago Monteiro, during the two Czech races, had also scored nine points, whereas he had only scored four in the ten previous races. This time, the challenge is completely different: the Portuguese is racing at home, in the streets of Porto, and would like to win there. “ It’s very nice to come back to race in Porto. Like any city circuit, Boavista is a demanding and narrow route where the slightest mistake pays a high price. I know it will be difficult, but I would like to give the Portuguese a victory. »

If Tiago Monteiro wants to win in Porto, he will need a competitive car. However, equivalences can call into question the performance of Leon diesel engines. In Brno, the latter had suffered a lot but the Czech circuit favored power, with its long straights. Door should best suit red and yellow cars. But Tiago Monteiro tempers this vision of things: “ It is complicated to predict where we will stand in relation to the competition. We will do our best but on an urban circuit where tire management is essential, the weight of our front axle, due to the diesel engine, can complicate our mission. »

Despite everything, this home race will necessarily be special for Tiago Monteiro, who hopes to shine in front of his audience. “ It will certainly be a very emotional weekend and I can't wait to see the stands fill up to prove once again that Portugal has a real passion for motorsport. »
