Muller: “It’s going to be exciting!” »

Yvan, you come to Macau in the position of hunter with two points behind your main opponent and teammate Gabriele Taquini.

“It’s true that Gabriele Tarquini is my most serious opponent. It was with him that I already played the song last year. I am two points behind him but we must not forget Augusto Farfus (BMW) who is eleven points behind me. Mathematically, he can easily come back and win; he has the capabilities. It's going to be hot and exciting with three drivers on track to be titled. »

The last two meetings were fierce; What do you think will make the difference?

“In Macau, there are many parameters to take into account. First of all, playing a title in Macau remains complicated because it is a city circuit which is difficult and dangerous. The slightest mistake is paid for in cash. It is the fastest track of the season with the slowest curve and the fastest corner too. We tend to be very restrained. What can determine the final result can also be the way you approach the meeting with more or less pressure. »

Having already won the world title last season, should you have less pressure?

“It's true that I already have a title, so the pressure should be more on the shoulders of my opponents than on mine. Furthermore, I think I have reached a milestone and I am going to approach this meeting in Macau in a different way. Last year, I still had the memory of 2007 when I lost the title in the last lap. I can't wait to get there and fight. »

How will you approach the two races?

I will ride according to Gabriele Tarquini, that's for sure. I'm not going to ride to necessarily get pole. The difference will be made in the ability to play for a title on such a difficult circuit, without putting too much pressure on yourself because unconsciously, we have it a little. »

What is the atmosphere like with your teammate Gabriele Tarquini?

“The atmosphere is very good. There is no war. Already in 2008, we shared our experiences from the qualifying session. This year it's the same. »

Will you have team instructions to bring back the Manufacturers' title as a priority?

“It’s clear that this is the objective. There is time to be gained by playing as a team. But in Macau it's different, everyone will try to pull the rug out. Seat's strength, however, will remain its ability to make the five drivers work together. »
