Nascar – Bowyer relies on consistency for the title

Clint Bowyer had an almost exemplary season at the wheel of his Toyota No. 15. Without having won once this year, the resident of Michael Waltrip Racing has recorded regular results which allow him to place himself as the most serious rival of Jimmie Johnson while still being 56 points behind. The Camry driver is not worried since he will have every chance for the Chase where the gaps will be reduced. After recording seven top 5s and eleven top 10s in 19 starts, Bowyer secured a place in the title race for the end of the season before competing in the Indianapolis race.

“I'm definitely not right behind Jimmie, but I'm certainly the closest,” comments Clint Bowyer. “We've done a great job being consistent and that's what I'm focusing on. Am I marked by the victory of my teammates (Brian Vickers and Martin Truex Jr)? Absolutely not. I am very happy and proud for both of them. Both of these drivers have fantastic backgrounds, not only with Michael Waltrip Racing, but in the sport in general. I know we're racing to win, but I'm not really concerned about that. Being consistent and staying at the front every weekend is what gives you a chance at the Championship. »
