Nascar – Danica Patrick left her mark at Daytona

Last year, in Nationwide (the second division of the Nascar, Editor's note), Danica Patrick had already made an impression by achieving pole position under the noses of several big names like Dale Earnhardt or her current boss, Tony Stewart. This year, after moving up to the Sprint Cup, the young American once again achieved a feat by becoming the first woman to achieve a pole position in the Sprint Cup. Yesterday, for the famous 500 mile race, she offered a high-ranking performance, becoming at the same time one of the thirteen drivers to have led both the Daytona and Indianapolis 500 miles.

By finishing eighth, while she was on the podium going into the last lap, Danica Patrick was satisfied with her performance, despite a touch of disappointment at being passed in the last lap: “We were in front all day. We stayed in the Top 10 for almost the entire race. We had some really good pit stops with the team, the car was fast, and it's a little frustrating when you get passed when we were third going into the last lap. I learned a lot for next time. »

In the end, the 30-year-old driver secured eighth place: “They (the team) did a good job in the pits, and we stayed in the top 10 all day. So, I can't really complain about that. It was nice. The race was calm most of the time, but it became a lot of fun when there was a bit of excitement. »
