Nascar – Dover: Harvick wins, Johnson eliminated

Kevin Harvick (Stewart-Haas Racing) won the AAA 400 held this Sunday, October 4 at the Dover International Speedway (Delaware) and thus qualified for the next round of the Chase, “the Contender Round”, even though he had completely missed the first races and that he was condemned to victory to stay in the play-offs.

The reigning champion was almost untouchable on the “Monster Mile” by holding the lead during the ? of the event in order to achieve his third victory of the season, the 31st of his career. The driver of the No. 4 thus joined the drivers Joe Gibbs, Denny Hamlin and Matt Kenseth, in the list of winners of the “Challenger Round”.

If the eliminations of Clint bowyer (Michael Waltrip Racing), Paul Menard (Richard Childress Racing) and Jamie mcmurray (Chip Ganassi Racing) were anticipated, that of Jimmie johnson (Hendrick Motorsports) was unexpected. The six-time champion suffered a broken seal in the gearbox, causing an oil leak forcing him to stop. The No. 48 Chevrolet could only take 41st place.
