Nascar – Gilliland takes advantage of the rain at Daytona

David Gilliland gave Front Row Motorsports the first pole at the end of qualifying for the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway. The driver of the No. 38 Ford took advantage of the poor strategies of the leading teams to set the best time with a lap completed in 45 before the rain interrupted the session. The surprise does not stop there since Reed Sorenson (Tommy Baldwin Racing) completes the first row 153 thousandths behind while Landon Cassill (Hillman Racing) and Bobby Labonte (Circle Sport Racing).

The start should offer a great spectacle since Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick Motorsports) will still start from fifth row ahead of Matt Kenseth (Joe Gibbs Racing) and Dale Earnhardt Jr (Hendrick Motorsports). However, some drivers were trapped by the weather since the Penske drivers, Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano, will start outside the top 25 just like Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing) 37th or his teammate Kyle Busch 41st.
