NASCAR – Jeff Gordon will compete in his last full season

Four-time champion NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, three-time winner of the Daytona 500, record holder for victories at the Brickyard 400 in Indianapolis with five successes. Here is part of the list of Jeff Gordon. This Thursday, the 43-year-old driver, leading figure of the Hendrick Motorsports team with whom he has been racing since 1992, however announced that 2015 would be his final full-time season in the Sprint Cup Series (the 23rd).

“I thought long and hard about my future last year and during the offseason, and I decided that 2015 would be the last time I committed to a championship. I plan to stay very busy in the years to come, and there is always the opportunity to participate in selected events, although I currently have no plans to do so. »

The native of Vallejo, California, will however remain involved in Hendrick training. “I am passionate about the company and its future success. I am partnered with Rick Hendrick and will remain heavily involved with the company for many years to come. It means so much to me to be able to continue working with the owner who gave me a chance and the incredible team who stood behind me every step of the way. I will explore possibilities for the next phase of my career, but my main focus now and throughout 2015 will be my performance behind the wheel of the No. 24 Chevrolet. I'm going to give it my all this season and I can't wait to compete for one last championship. »

Jeff Gordon has 92 victories during his Sprint Cup career, making him the third winningest driver behind Richard Petty and David Pearson.
