The second round of the 2015 Sprint Cup Series season took place yesterday on the Atlanta track in Georgia and allowed Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick Motorsports) to score its first success this year. The six-time champion of the discipline, in the lead after the last restart on lap 312, following one of the two collective accidents which punctuated the event, resisted the attacks of his teammate Dale Earnhardt Jr, to finally get ahead at the arrival the outgoing champion Kevin Harvick (Stewart-Haas Racing) et Dale Jr. Joey Logano (Team Penske), parti depuis la pole position, termine 4e devant la première Toyota Camry de Matt Kenseth (Joe Gibbs Racing). C’est la 71e victoire en carrière pour Johnson.
Jeff Gordon, just like at Daytona in Florida last week, was unsuccessful. Driver Hendrick was involved in a collective crash initiated by Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing).
