After Atlanta (Georgia), Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick Motorsports) scored his second victory of the season by winning the 400 miles of Auto Club Speedway in Fontana (California). The driver of the No. 48 Chevrolet took the lead of the race on the penultimate lap after the restart to win ahead of Kevin Harvick (Stewart-Haas Racing) who was the biggest leader by leading 142 laps out of the 205 in the race (five laps added with the last interruption).
Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing) completes the top three ahead of Joey Logano (Team Penske) and Rickey Stenhouse Jr (Roush Fenway Racing).
The race was marked by two impressive accidents. Kyle Larson (Chip Ganassi Racing) hit the inside wall head-on after losing control of his No. 42 Chevrolet following a flat tire, while Danica Patrick suffered a similar crash while finishing her race into the wall after being hit by Kasey Kahne (Hendrick Motorsports) when she tried to pass the No. 5 Chevrolet.
