Kyle Larson (Chip Ganassi Racing) took his first victory in Nascar Sprint Cup at the end of the Pure Michigan 400 contested on the two-mile oval. Juan Pablo Montoya's replacement, who was making his 99th start, took the lead in the final part of the race.
Despite a final stop where he lost several seconds, Kyle Larson was able to regain the advantage over Chase Elliott (Hendrick Motorsports) who also hoped to open his success counter and he now finds himself qualified for the Chase with two events remaining at the end of the regular season.
Brad Keselowski (Team Penske) completed the top three while his teammate Joey Logano who started from pole only took tenth place. The top five is completed by Ryan Blaney (Wood Brothers Racing) and Kevin Harvick (Stewart-Haas Racing).
