NASCAR – Montoya returns this weekend

Arrived in 2006 in NASCAR in his favorite team Chip Ganassi, with whom he had previously excelled in CART, Juan-Pablo Montoya never managed to play a leading role in the Sprint Cup Series. The former resident of the teams Williams et McLaren en F1 has certainly won two victories, both won on road circuits (Sonoma in 2007 and Watkins Glen in 2010), but his record on ovals remains blank. However, opportunities to win often presented themselves but the Colombian did not materialize. Returned this season in IndyCar, including a good performance at the Indianapolis 500 (5th) and a first podium in Texas on an oval, Montoya will make a return for two races in NASCAR with Penske alongside the two drivers Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano. The first this weekend in Michigan, and the second in Indianapolis on July 27.

“It’s a good opportunity, Montoya says. Also, Penske has never won at the Brickyard in NASCAR, and I have always been fast there. That would really be something special. I feel really good. I don't want to start comparing teams to each other, but at Penske, everything is fantastic. It’s a real honor to be able to race for Roger Penske. At Ganassi, from one year to the next, you didn't know if you were going to be ahead or behind. But they put things in place to achieve more stability. »

Juan-Pablo Montoya will drive in the No. 12 Ford Fusion.
